The Secret Path
Starring Bhoy-Bhoy & Kura

The Secret Path  is the first movie to feature Tudoridge dogs

In this movie, a young girl is forced by her abusive grandfather to compete with Bhoy-Bhoy and Kura for supper.  Later, she has no alternative but to sleep outside on the porch, with the dogs providing both security and warmth.

In this, their acting debut, Bhoy-Bhoy and Kura's composure and easy acceptance of the chaotic hustle and bustle on a movie set was  a credit to their breeding and upbringing.

Madeline Zima, Ron White and Yolanda King also star in the inspiring drama about a young, neglected white girl in the rural South who, with the help of an unlikely couple, finds the solace and nurturing needed to transform her downtrodden life.

The story opens with an adult Jo Ann Foley recalling her childhood in the pre-civil rights South. After her birth to the unwed Marie (Bernard), the newborn Jo Ann is taken by her bootleg grandfather, Hank (White), and abandoned at the roadside. She is rescued by a caring soul who reluctantly returns her the next day in a basket to her dysfunctional family with a gold cross hanging from her neck and a note saying, "God is watching, and so am I".

She is later befriended by the sweet natured Honey (Reese) and her loving husband, Too Tall (Davis), a black couple who live near the end of a secret path behind her ramshackle house. Time and again, despite the potential danger to any black person willing to take a white girl into their home, the couple provides a nurturing escape for Jo Ann, away from her unhappy family.

As Jo Ann (Yvonne and Madeline Zima) grows older, she becomes a target of her grandfather's abuse, and it becomes clear that she is being prepared for a future that involves illegal activities. The blossoming teenager begins to realize that her grandfather's values are vastly different from those she has gained from her decent black "parents," who have not only provided her with a sanctuary but, ultimately, the roots and wings necessary to one day escape the clutches of her abusive family.
